I just wanted to say a big thank you to all of you; parents, kids, and families! I am overwhelmed by all of the love that I received this last week. I am truly inspired by the families that I have met at SKE and I will never forget all of the incredible things that we did together! I am saying goodbye but it's not forever!
Thank you

This week will be my last week with the class :(
As I said in my e-mail, I am so sad that I'm leaving, but they will be in good hands with Mrs. Wiebe. This Tuesday is Maker Day! Please let us know if you can stay for the whole day; we are in desperate need of more volunteers! Also, keep sending us your recycling so that we can make prototypes. We have an author coming to visit us on Thursday morning, and a puppeteer performing for us on Friday afternoon! Our WTW test is on Friday. Library exchange is on Monday. Thanks again for all of your support! I cannot believe how quickly these months have gone by. Sorry for the late post!
This week we are having our addition and subtraction test on Friday! We have been practicing and will continue to review all week. We have a cultural assembly on Thursday at 12:30. Our Maker Day is next Tuesday! Please come help if possible! It is a super fun day! Today, the students met Mrs. Wiebe, who will be their teacher for the remainder of the year starting on November 28th. Thank you! I hope everyone has recovered from Halloween!
Thank you to all of the parents who brought food and treats to our class! It was enjoyed thoroughly! Also thank you to Cashen's family for lending us your speaker and microphone! Karaoke was enjoyed by all! What a sneaky way to get kids reading :) Library exchange is on Monday. Thanks to those of you who have returned the swim forms! If you have not, please do so! Our spelling test is on Thursday next week, because there is no school on Friday, as it is Remembrance Day. Our assembly is on Thursday morning from 10-11 if you wish to attend! We have lots of great presenters that are helping us prepare for Maker Day! We had a teacher from OKM come in and talk about being an entrepreneur, and brought 2 students that design video games. We also have a teacher coming in on Monday to talk to us about Growth Mindsets (a big idea for our year). Just a reminder, I will be away until Tuesday. Thank you! We finally had a 5 day work week! This coming week is full of fun stuff!
Monday is our class party! I have posted the notice on the website if it was lost or not e-mailed to you. The costume parade will be at 2:00 if you want to join! Please remember no scary costumes or fake weapons! Spelling tests go home today and new words will go home on Tuesday. Library exchange is on Monday. The Rockets are coming on Wednesday. The intermediates will be playing in a game or watching at 10:30. Please note, that I will be away on Friday the 4th, and Monday the 7th. Mrs. Wilson will be here instead. We have a presenter coming to our school next week to help us with our Maker Day preparation that was on Dragon's Den! We have started an inquiry project in Social Studies, where students had to decide who was the greatest explorer in Canadian history by selecting criteria, and finding an explorer that fits their criteria. We will soon be starting our final science project! Students will be creating an animal that can survive in their chosen biome. Thank you! I hope you all had a lovely weekend! Sorry for the late post, but Friday was a day full of learning!
On Monday, we are going to the Art Gallery and the RCA for a field trip! Please make sure your child is dressed to get messy and move! They also need water and a lunch. We have library exchange on Monday right when we get back from our field trip. We have a pretty normal week coming up, which is very exciting! I realize that next week is Halloween week, and I will be sending more information home as to what we are doing that day. We only have Mathletics for a short time! Please feel free to use this program at home; the kids LOVE the competitions :) Thank you! This coming week should be a great one!
Spelling tests are going home today! They did a GREAT job! On Friday, October 21st, there is a Pro-D day, so class will not be in session. Library exchange is on Monday. Please make sure your child has gym strip! It is SO important to have an extra change of clothes at school. We have been learning about creativity, empathy, innovation, and communication to prepare us for our Maker Day in November! More information will be coming about this day. It has been a great experience learning from all of the intermediate teachers! Hot lunch forms are going home today! A field trip form is going home on Monday. We are going to the Art Gallery, and we are only going once this year. We will also be learning kung fu! New spelling words will be going home on Tuesday for their test on Friday, October 28th. Thank you! We had a fun week! We had a virtual field trip where paleontologists joined us live and we were able to ask questions and see a dig that they are working on in the USA! It was really interesting! Next week we have library exchange on Monday. Students NEED gym strip at school, especially indoor running shoes. It is important that all students have a spare set of clothes at school not only for gym, but for messes, etc. On Tuesday, we have a Cultural Performance that is interactive! If you would like, please join us in the gym between 1:45-2:25 on Tuesday, October 4th to watch us perform our drumming skills! We have early dismissal on Wednesday and Thursday next week on October 5th and 6th for our conferences. Students will be dismissed at 12:15. There will be no class on Friday or Thanksgiving Monday. Students completed their first math test and did very well! You will get to see their tests at our conferences and they will be sent home at the end of the term. Please send any extra shoe boxes you have at home for our upcoming science project. Thank you! This week flew by!
Thank you to those of you who came to the Terry Fox run! It was lots of fun and we raised money for cancer research! On Tuesday is our first math test on Number Sense! We have been practicing hard in class. I will be providing a study sheet if students want to study at home. Library exchange is on Monday. I will also be recording who has gym strip starting Monday. We have a virtual field trip on Wednesday from 9-10! We will be learning about fossils. Parent teacher conferences are coming up! They are on October 5th and 6th. I hold an open house on the 5th from 1:00-2:30, and 3-4. I hold Thursdays for 1 on 1 interviews if needed. More information to come! Thank you! We had a fabulous first full week together!
We had a lock down drill today and it went very well! Thank you to those of you who gave me your e-mail address; I promise I will only send out quick reminders that are specific to our class. Monday is library exchange! Please make sure your child has gym strip next week, as we will begin changing for P.E. Home reading needs to be done Monday-Thursday for 20-30 minutes a night. I don't send any homework home unless it is not finished in class or during our finish-up time. On Friday, it is the Terry Fox run. Information has been sent home. It is at 10:15 this year!
